After extensive testing throughout the off-season, Pirelli will debut their new tyre solution at the opening round of the 2022 campaign

The 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship gets underway for its 35th season at MotorLand Aragon for the Pirelli Aragon Round and ahead of the round, tyre supplier Pirelli have announced their tyre solutions for WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes. The Aragon Round will feature the debut of Pirelli’s new SCQ tyre while there is also a new development solution for the front tyres in WorldSBK.

Pirelli have brought three solutions for the rear tyres in WorldSBK for the riders lining up on the grid, with the standard SC0 soft compound and the standard SCX supersoft compound. In 2021, this tyre was developed throughout the year as the A557 development solution and it became a very popular choice for the riders after its debut at Misano last season. For 2022, it will be presented as a standard SCX solution.

The third rear solution available to riders is the development SCQ A1359 tyre, which is an extra soft compound, validated throughout winter testing as riders tested the new solution. The idea behind the SCQ compound is a tyre that can both be used for Tissot Superpole and in the 10-lap Tissot Superpole Race, with the SCX tyre now used a lot in Race 1 and Race 2.

For the front tyres in WorldSBK, riders will also have three solutions available throughout the Aragon Round. Two standard solutions, the SC1 soft compound and SC2 medium compound, will be available alongside the development A0674 solution which made its WorldSBK debut in 2021. Compared to the standard SC1 solution, it is designed to improve front end feeling by increasing support in corner entry and at maximum lean.

WorldSSP riders will only have standard solutions available to them for the Aragon Round, on both the front and rear of their machines. On the front of their machines, they will have at their disposal the standard SC2 medium compound and the standard SC1 soft compound, which is a development of the A14060. For their rear tyre, the WorldSSP riders will be able to utilise the supersoft SCX compound, the soft SC0 compound and the medium SC1 compound. All three of these tyres come from Pirelli’s standard range.
